Environmental

A disposable dust bag is used once and thrown away, usually after a few days or weeks of work. Most cannot be recycled, so they end up in landfill or incineration, along with the packaging they came in. Macam was set up in 2018 to offer a washable alternative for the machines people already own.

One bag instead of hundreds

Every Macam bag is made to be emptied, shaken out and refitted. It is rated for up to 500 emptying cycles, so a single bag can take the place of hundreds of disposable bags over its working life. That means fewer bags and fewer boxes to make, ship and throw away.

Made to last

Each bag is made from high-strength 4-layer polyester fleece with a non-stick inner lining, so dust drops out cleanly instead of clogging the fabric. The collar and seals are made for one specific machine, so the bag fits properly and is not damaged by being forced into place. Every design is tested in real working conditions before it goes on sale.

Helping your bag last longer

  • Empty it when it is about three-quarters full.
  • Wash it every 20 to 30 emptying cycles at up to 30 °C, without detergent, and let it air dry.
  • Use it for dry waste only. Concrete, plaster and other fine mineral dust shorten its life considerably.

At the end of its life

When a bag is finally worn out, it goes in general waste: one bag instead of the hundreds it replaced.
